Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) issued the following statement today in response to last week’s kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers, one of whom is a U.S. citizen:

"The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three Israeli teenage Yeshiva students who were kidnapped in the West Bank last week. We pray for the return of Eyal Yifrach, 19, Naftali Frankel (a U.S. citizen), 16, and Gil-ad Shaar, 16."

"The JCRC offer prayers to the families of the teens and hope for their quick, safe return. We stand in solidarity with our fellow Jews in Israel who have gathered at vigils to pray for the return of the three teens. On Sunday, 25,000 Israelis gathered at the Western Wall with Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau to pray for the release of the three teenagers. We condemn the repeated calls by Palestinian Islamists to kidnap Israelis and use them as bargaining chips to extract the release of Palestinian security prisoners."
