JCRC Condemns Terror Attack Killing Four Israelis in Jerusalem

January 8, 2017

Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC), issued the following statement:

“The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) condemns today’s act of terrorism killing four Israelis and wounding 17 more in Jerusalem.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all the people of Israel. These four extraordinary Israelis were all so much more than just the latest victims of a century long campaign to deny the Jewish people their natural right to be a free people in their own land.

“Since October 2015, the start of a wave of terror in Israel, terrorists have committed 40 vehicle-ramming attacks. In that time, 46 people have been killed, including several American citizens, in attacks by Palestinian terrorists.

“These murders in Jerusalem are also yet another demonstration of Hamas’ malevolence as they openly praise this attack.

“Finally, this act of terror in the heart of Jerusalem is an awful reminder of the where the obstacles to peace lie and the perversity of UNSC Res. 2334.”

As the public affairs voice of the Jewish community, the JCRC fights anti-Semitism and prejudice, advocates for Israel, provides Holocaust education, promotes tolerance and social justice, and builds bridges across the Jewish and broader communities.
