JCRC Condemns Terrorist Attack on London Mosque

June 19, 2017

Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC), issued the following statement:

“The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) condemns the terrorist attack against a mosque in London killing one person and wounding at least ten more. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

“We echo British Prime Minister Thresa May’s comments in which she stated: ‘This was an attack on Muslims near their place of worship. And like all terrorism, in whatever form, it shares the same fundamental goal. It seeks to drive us apart; and to break the precious bonds of solidarity and citizenship that we share…’

“We also reaffirm Britain’s Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis statement: ‘All good people must stand together and join in rejecting hatred and violence from wherever it comes. The way forward is to strengthen the moderate majority and repudiate and marginalize extremism of every type.'”

As the public affairs voice of the Jewish community, the JCRC fights anti-Semitism and prejudice, advocates for Israel, provides Holocaust education, promotes tolerance and social justice, and builds bridges across the Jewish and broader communities.
