Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC), issued the following statement:
“The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) is horrified by today’s terror attacks in Egypt killing at least 43 Coptic Christians and wounding over 100 more as they observed Palm Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We join Pope Francis in expressing condolences to the Coptic Church and Egypt.
“These attacks against some of the oldest Christian communities in the world in the Middle East – the cradle of Christianity – only add to the depravity of today’s horrors. We offer our prayers for peace and restoration of calm and security for the people of Egypt, and all other victims of terrorism.
“Finally, we offer our Christian friends and neighbors and all of Christianity a Blessed Easter.”
As the public affairs voice of the Jewish community, the JCRC fights anti-Semitism and prejudice, advocates for Israel, provides Holocaust education, promotes tolerance and social justice, and builds bridges across the Jewish and broader communities.
