We thank North Dakota’s Senator Kevin Cramer for his leadership to dedicate federal funds for Holocaust education

Minneapolis, MN — Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC), issued the following statement: 

“The board and staff of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) applaud the bipartisan passage of the Never Again Education Act.  The legislation establishes a dedicated federal fund through the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to provide teachers with resources and training necessary to teach our students the important lessons of the Holocaust. 

“We thank North Dakota’s Senator Kevin Cramer for his critical leadership to draft and pass this legislation.  In addition to Senator Cramer’s leadership, we thank Senators John Hoeven, Amy Klobuchar, Tina Smith, and John Thune, along with Representatives Angie Craig, Tom Emmer, Betty McCollum, Ilhan Omar, Dean Phillips, and Pete Stauber for their co-sponsorship of this legislation. 

“This legislation expands U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum education programming by requiring the museum to develop and nationally disseminate accurate, relevant, and accessible resources to improve awareness and understanding of the Holocaust.  It also authorizes various Holocaust education program activities to engage prospective and current teachers and educational leaders.”
