MINNESOTA PREMIERE

Part heist film and part historical investigation, THE STAMP THIEF follows screenwriter Gary Gilbert on an audacious quest to recover a cache of stamps allegedly stolen by a Nazi officer from a concentration camp and hidden for decades in a basement in Legnica, Poland. With director Dan Sturman, Gilbert assembles a crew and gains access by posing as a production team shooting a feature film.

What begins as a wildly entertaining caper becomes a morally tangled reckoning with an 80-year-old theft, the ethics of deception in pursuit of justice, and the lingering mistrust between Poles and Jews. THE STAMP THIEF asks what we owe the past, and how far we are willing to go to reclaim it.
